Description

Absynthe Minded releases ninth studio album Slightly Included via V2 Records.

We've got tickets for two exclusive listening sessions, each followed by a Q&A with Bert Ostyn, for a small group of Absynthe Minded fans at the Gold Listening Bar in Ghent.

Gold is an atmospheric listening and cocktail bar in the heart of Ghent—a music-centric space designed for listening, gathering, and sharing. Vinyl and superior sound quality are the common threads here; music is paramount, spanning a wide spectrum that includes jazz, rock, avant-garde, electronic, Brazilian, soul, and more. It’s all about the vibe and the atmosphere.

The noise of the world is getting harder to tune out. Climate change, artificial intelligence, polarisation and a relentless churn of information. Everything feels important, urgent and close at hand. On their new album, Slightly Included, Absynthe Minded let the unease of our times seep into the music while holding fast to the things that make life worth living: love, imagination, youth, nature, parenthood, music, everyday beauty and the simple pleasure of being together.

The result is a compelling snapshot of our time, with 12 songs that move through a remarkable range of moods. Absynthe Minded move freely between muscular rock, catchy pop hooks and jazz-inflected grooves, while a 16-piece string ensemble arranged by Alex Callier gives their familiar sound an expansive new dimension. There’s a palpable sense of musicians enjoying each other’s company. In fact, this may be their most instinctive album in years.
