LP reissue of Ray Barretto's 'Acid' from 1968. This album was Barretto’s debut on the legendary Fania Records and remains one of his most acclaimed works. This energetic record blends Latin soul, salsa, funk, boogaloo, Afro-Cuban, and jazz influences into a unique mix of English and Spanish. The album features hits such as “A Deeper Shade of Soul,” “El nuevo Barretto,” and of course the title track “Acid.” The record captures Barretto’s band at full strength, featuring musicians including Bobby Rodriguez, Orestes Vilató, and Adalberto Santiago.
