With Blessing In Disguise, Metal Church took a new direction in 1989. This is the band's third studio album and the first featuring vocalist Mike Howe, whose powerful and melodic voice immediately gave the sound a fresh face. The music became more refined and complex, without losing its distinctive thrash and heavy metal roots. Founder Kurdt Vanderhoof and guitarist Craig Wells deliver a masterclass in layered and technical guitar work. The album opens with a bang with the classic "Fake Healer" and maintains the tension with tracks like "Badlands" and the epic "Anthem To The Estranged". Blessing In Disguise is considered an essential work in the band's discography.
A powerful blend of heavy metal and thrash metal, featuring the melodic and progressive influences characteristic of the American metal scene of the late eighties.
