Description

Quiet Storm is a title of contradictions and collisions that Space Afrika eagerly dive into on their fourth album. Contrasting momentary field recordings and intimate spoken passages with blurred choral and orchestral freezes, these tracks constantly shift from cinematic to microscopic in the duo’s deep explorations of class and diaspora. Operatic pangs and wails meet patiently pacing strings, harps pluck beneath a candid “TikTok in your car” confessional, racing trains of thought are accentuated by swishing, jittery jazz drums; nothing’s off limits for Space Afrika so long as it's emotionally bracing.
