This release brings back the Belgian band EARLY CHRISTIAN and their sole recording for the Phillips label in 1969 — a 45 that has become both elusive and highly sought-after among collectors. Featuring “Automatic Fly” and “Fire,” the record captures a late-sixties psych pop sound shaped by fuzz-laden guitar tones and swirling phasing effects.
Early Christian was a short-lived band formed in Belgium in the late 1960s, drawing influence from psychedelic music and groups like Cream. After winning a major talent contest, they secured a recording contract and went on to perform extensively, though this single remains their only release.
Both tracks stand as sharp examples of the era’s psych pop underground, driven by fuzzed-out guitars and studio effects that echo the atmosphere of late-night club stages.
Produced in close collaboration with the original band members, this reissue is limited to 450 hand-numbered copies on 7” black vinyl with a large centre hole. Each copy includes a 4-page insert (in English) with photos and background information provided by the band, along with an A6 postcard.
The audio has been carefully restored and remastered by Vacuum Mastering — the same studio behind releases from Madmua Records — while the Mapache logo was created by Mik Baro, known for his extensive work across garage and rock and roll design.
