Description

Mother Love Bone's LP "Shine" is an intriguing document of a transitional period in rock music, recorded in November 1988 behind the doors of London Bridge Studios in Seattle.

Released on March 6, 1989, the EP introduces the unique fusion of glam hard rock with the early hallmarks of grunge. Immediately striking is the flamboyant style of frontman Andrew Wood, whose poetic and visually charged lyrics evoke a melancholic yet energetic atmosphere. His vocals, reminiscent of legendary figures like Robert Plant and Ian Astbury, lend the whole a timeless soul.

The musical foundation is laid by Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, later of Pearl Jam fame, who are already clearly establishing their signature style with powerful bass lines and grooving guitars. The songs build on this dynamic, constantly alternating rawness with melodic moments and intensity.
