Description

Vibraphonist Cal Tjader's 1976 album, "Amazonas," marked a significant shift in his musical direction. For this album, Tjader collaborated with Brazilian musician Airto Moreira, who handled the arrangements and production. The result is a lush blend of jazz-funk and fusion, combining Latin American rhythms with the electric sounds of the 1970s. Tjader's signature vibraphone playing is framed by layered percussion, synthesizers, and electric piano. The album explores an atmospheric and polished sound, exemplary of the jazz-fusion style of the period.
