After numerous national and international album collaborations with artists such as Chilly Gonzales, Jarvis Cocker, Daniel Hope, Boy, and Bosse, as well as collaborations with artists such as Roosevelt, Leoniden, Die Sterne, Ry X, Anna Ternheim, Giant Rooks, and Gregory Porter, the Hamburg-based Kaiser Quartet will release their second album, "Empire," on March 10, 2023, via PIAS Recordings Germany.
The four musicians, consisting of Adam Zolynski (violin 1), Jansen Folkers (violin 2), Ingmar Süberkrüb (viola), and Martin Bentz (cello), retreated to the rural "Fattoria Musica" near Osnabrück for several sessions during the 2021 lockdown to develop new original compositions.
In contrast to their purely instrumental debut album (s/t; released in August 2019), this time the musical spectrum has been expanded to include four vocal tracks, and the Kaiser Quartett creates their own musical empire together with long-time collaborators Valeska Steiner, Jarvis Cocker, Joe Flory, and L'aupaire.
If the band name immediately suggests a classical quartet, you're completely wrong. Using the techniques of a classical string quartet, they record miniatures that create an exciting pop meets classical crossover.
