Spearhead is the brainchild of rapper Michael Franti, who became famous in the 1980s with The Beatniks and in the 1990s with The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy. On his debut album Home, he covers many topics related to the social conditions of society in general. On this project, he blends hip hop with a lot of other styles, including reggae, jazz, funk, folk and rock.

The music contains a lot of swing and rhythm, while Michael and the other vocalists are spreading their words on how society is changing. Michael 's dark and brooding voice brings a vibe in which the lyrics and subjects gets a little bit more emphasis.

Michael Franti is a spoken word artist and singer-songwriter who became famous by participating in some of the well-known projects from the hip hop scene. He was successful with The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy, before moving on as a social artist under the name Michael Franti & Spearhead.
