Description

SiRENE 89 is a stunning compilation curated by Norman Gervais and Charles Bals, published through the Italian label Periodica Records and its imprint, Periodica International. Following their successful Transcoastal compilation, this project represents a unique, six-year labor of love designed to feel less like a standard music compilation and more like a specific, immersive physical space.

The album is framed as a live recording of a single, continuous evening on the terrace of a Mediterranean holiday resort in 1989. To pull off this specific illusion, the curators spent years gathering forgotten tracks recorded between 1982 and 1993 from local micro-labels, library records, beach-club performers, and privately released tapes.
