Description

With their enchanting blend of electronica, art pop, Afropop, saudade, and alternative Latin, Ão has become one of the most exciting acts on the Belgian music scene. The foursome has developed into a groundbreaking, unique voice that defies any genre label, just like Stromae, Rosalía, or C. Tangana.

Brenda Corijn, who draws on her Mozambican-Portuguese roots, sings in Portuguese and English. Her warm voice blends with Siebe Chau's southern guitar playing, Jolan Decaestecker's layered electronics, and Bert Peyffers' eclectic percussion. Live, Ão creates a captivating experience that enchants audiences across Europe. Their dynamic sound—ranging from fragile melodies to danceable beats—immerses you in a captivating world where you never know where things come from.

Their new album, Malandra, will be released on February 13, 2026. A malandra is a woman who navigates life with humor, intelligence, playfulness, and cunning: not always honest, but always true to herself. With Malandra, Ão creates an ode to complexity, multiformity, and the search in all its forms. It sounds even more layered, rhythmic, playful, tender, and hard-hitting than their debut album, Ao Mar. The album will be presented live in 2026 during a European tour, culminating in their Belgian release show at the Ancienne Belgique.
