Description

Getz/Gilberto demonstrates how bossa nova added a new sound to jazz in the 1960s. The album brings together saxophonist Stan Getz with Brazilian musicians such as singer and guitarist João Gilberto and composer and pianist Antônio Carlos Jobim. The release includes well-known performances of “The Girl from Ipanema,” with vocals by Astrud Gilberto, and “Desafinado,” among others. With its refined interplay, warm atmosphere, and recognizable melodies, Getz/Gilberto grew into an important album within both jazz and bossa nova.
