Description

"Cabin in the Sky" is De La Soul's first album in nine years, and the first since the passing of co-founder Dave Jolicoeur, aka Trugoy the Dove, at the age of 54 in February 2023. And back then, there were just two of them, Maseo and Posdnuos, though the duo does have some helping hands on "Cabin in the Sky"—and that's putting it mildly. The roll call that opens the album, read by actor Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring from "Breaking Bad"), is a veritable who's who of hip-hop. We'll run through the biggest names, and you'll immediately remember where the phrase 'to lick your chops' comes from: Black Thought, Common, Bilal, DJ Premier, Killer Mike, Q-Tip, Nas, Pete Rock, Slick Rick...
