Description

For more than three decades, Jimi Tenor has been one of the most distinctive artists on the European music scene. The Finnish composer and multi-instrumentalist has always moved effortlessly between jazz, funk, electronic music, Afrobeat, and experimental pop, without being confined to any one style. With Wormhole Mystic, he returns to a solo album after a period of intensive work with the newly formed Jimi Tenor Band.

The starting point for the twelve new tracks were rhythm loops created on vintage drum machines from the 1960s and 70s, which then served as the foundation for the subsequent compositions. Together with synthesizers, flute, saxophone, and his distinctive voice, Tenor develops an album that draws on familiar elements of his work while simultaneously exploring new avenues. Wormhole Mystic impressively underscores the enduring creative curiosity of an artist whose work remains in constant flux.
