Description

With Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus, Charles Mingus presents a powerful big band experience. The album, originally from 1964, is one of his most dynamic and layered works. For this record, Mingus reinterpreted a number of his best-known compositions, often under a new title. He is backed by an eleven-piece ensemble featuring top musicians such as Eric Dolphy and Jaki Byard. The music bursts with energy and masterfully combines blues, gospel, and Mingus's characteristic orchestrated chaos. The album is known as a key work in his extensive oeuvre.
