Description

No-one quite knew how to handle Funkadelic’s groundbreaking masterpiece in 1971. Too strange for Motown, too black for rock’n’roll, the sonic and lyrical universe evoked polarising expressions of birth and annihilation. While the recording was heavily laden with psychedelic inspiration, the ingenious sonic ideas lasted long after the comedown.

An outrageous, extravagant, juxtaposing fusion of metal, gospel, prog, funk, blues and jazz. Fifty-five years later, the world may have finally caught up with George Clinton’s imagination and the incomparable sonic synchronicity of Funkadelic. This definitive 2026 reissue gives this album the analogue treatment it deserves, restoring in immaculate detail from the original analogue tapes.
