The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein
Parliament
- LP
- Label
- BGP Records, Casablanca

After the release of 'Mothership Connection' in 1975, there was speculation about whether Parliament could deliver something equally good again. No problem. The groundbreaking album 'The Clones of Dr. Funkenstein' was released in 1976 and is among the best of the P-Funk crew. It achieved gold status in America and reached #20 on the Billboard album charts. George Clinton's cool crew included Bootsy Collins (bass). The musical arrangements were by keyboardist Bernie Worrell and former James Brown horn player Fred Wesley. The legendary Brecker Brothers were among the studio horn players.
Every track was a hit, with 'Gamin' On Ya' and 'Children of Production' bursting with musical electricity. 'Getten' To Know You' was even a kind of romantic ballad. 'Everything Is On The One' was a summary of Parliament's revamped groove philosophy in a single song. George Clinton, of course, played the role of Dr. Funkenstein, featured on the iconic cover. Naturally, on black vinyl!
