Unearthed from forgotten reels and cassettes, Before Aksak Maboul (Documents & Experiments 1969–1977) reveals the prehistory of the legendary avant-pop shapeshifters. From free rock tentets to modular synth drift, psych jams and protoavantpop sketches, these seventeen tracks trace the winding path that led to the birth of Aksak Maboul in 1977. 

Assembled and edited in 2025 by Marc Hollander (founder of Aksak Maboul and of the influential Crammed Discs label) the collection is both archive and adventure, offering a glimpse of what was, and what might have been.
