At the dawn of the 1960s, France gave birth to a new cultural movement: the Nouvelle Vague. François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard revolutionized cinema with handheld cameras, bold storytelling, and a new generation of rebellious characters. Their film soundtracks quickly became popular songs in their own right. From Jeanne Moreau's Le Tourbillon in Jules et Jim to Samba Saravah from A Man and a Woman, the screen and the record became inseparable, each enriching the other.This creative cross-pollination inspired an entire musical scene, blending carefree rock with wistful chanson. Françoise Hardy, Serge Gainsbourg, and Brigitte Bardot came to embody a Paris that danced as much as it questioned itself, reflecting a generation embracing profound social, sexual, and cultural change.
